First visit Wat Doi Suthep and then the orchid & butterfly farm. Travel north to the Mae Tamman valley where you take an oxcart ride, an elephant safari and a short bamboo raft trip. Take lunch in a local restaurant then drive scenic rural back roads visiting a forest temple and a rare Paulong hill tribe village. Overnight at Maekok River Village Resort. Have dinner and then relax around the campfire ( lit nightly if the weather is cool enough).

Day Two:

Depart the resort for a visit to several ethnic minority and hill tribe groups. (Shan, Akha, Lahu, Karen). Take a 2-hour long tail boat ride on the Maekok River, have lunch in a Karen village renowned for its elephant tours. Visit a Yao hill tribe handicraft market, the exotic market at Ban Mae Salong and a delightful Akha hill tribe village before returning to Maekok River Village Resort for a brief tea stop.

Then;

  • Those on Tour ref. SA203A continue on to their hotel or the airport in Chiang Mai.
  • Those on tour ref: SA203B travel on to their hotel or the airport in Chiang Rai.
