Day One:
Meal Code : (L,D)
Depart Chiang Mai for
the Mae Tamman Valley and an oxcart ride followed by an elephant
safari. Visit Chiang Dao caves. Lunch, then a drive along scenic
rural back roads visiting a forest temple and a rare Paulong hill
tribe village. Overnight at Maekok River Village Resort. Take dinner
and then relax around the campfire ( lit nightly if the weather
is cool enough).
Day Two:
Meal Code : (B,L,D)
An early breakfast
followed by a vehicle transfer to the raft boarding point for a
full day (4 - 5 hours / 50 kms) of comfortable bamboo rafting. Relax
onboard as the raftsmen pole you down river through stunning scenery,
light rapids, passinh isolated hamlets en route. A picnic lunch
is served onboard. canoeing is optional and you may use the canoes
to take excursions away from the raft as it floats gently along.
The river trip ends in the Karen village of Ban Ruam Mit and you
return by vehicle to Maekok River Village Resort. Take dinner and
then relax around the campfire
( lit nightly if the
weather is cool enough).
Day Three:

Depart the Resort to
visit several ethnic minority and villages; (Shan, Akha, Yao, Kuomingtong
Chinese). Explore the exotic market of Ban Mae Salong. Lunch, then
off to the Yao handicraft market of Ban Pa Deur. Travel the stunningly
scenic route over Doi Toong and Doi Pa Mi to the Thai-Burma border
market of Mae Sai. Drive via the Golden Triangle back to Chiang
Rai.
Then;
- Those on programme SA301A travel
back to Chiang Mai with a tea / coffee stop en route.
- Those on programme SA301B leave
the tour here for either the airport of for their chosen hotel.
