Day One:

Leaving your hotel
at 0600 hrs enjoy an early morning stroll around the main local
fresh food market during which your guide will provide information
and answer questions on Thai food ingredients and their preparation.
You then return to the hotel for breakfast. Depart the hotel again
at 0900 hrs by vehicle and travel north along highway 107. Stop
to visit Chiang Dao caves before taking lunch in a local restaurant.
After lunch continue north visit a forest temple at Wat Tum Tubtao
and then drive along rural back roads to visit a rare Paulong hill
tribe village. Next head north again to the Thai Burma border village
of Ban Thaton where you check into the Mae Kok River Village Resort.
Take dinner and then relax around the campfire ( lit nightly if
the weather is cool enough).
Day Two
Meal Code: (B,L,D)
After breakfast, join
a cooking module (as an optional extra at a cost of Baht 900.- per
person) on one of our KRUA MAEKOK cooking courses. Modules consist
of a tutorial (practical demonstration) followed by a "hands
on" period where you prepare the three Thai food dishes
created earlier by our outstanding chef. Take a buffet lunch. (And
delight in the gastronomic masterpiece you had earlier prepared)
Depart for a visit to the high altitude Royal Agriculture Project
on Doi Angkang where you spend time exploring the extensive grounds
and visiting a Lahu Shaleh village with its own ‘museum’. Return
to Maekok River Village in the early evening. Thai style dinner
is served for you in our restaurant before you retire for the night.
Day Three

Breakfast
After breakfast, join
another (optional) module of our KRUA MAEKOK cooking course. Again,
modules consist of a tutorial (practical demonstration) followed
by a "hands on" period where you prepare the three Thai
food dishes earlier demonstrated to you. Take a buffet lunch (that
includes the dishes you just cooked). Board a chartered long tail
boat that takes you on a 3 hour journey down river to Chiang Rai.
Stop at the Shan village of Ban Mae Mokcham before continuing down
to the Karen village of Ban Ruam Mit for a 1 hour elephant safari
through surrounding jungle and farmland. Reboard the long tail boat
for the last hour down river arriving at the Dusit Island Resort
boat jetty before dusk.
Then;
- Those on tour SA 312A transfer
from the jetty to the airport for your onward flight.
- Those on tour SA 312C check
into THE LEGEND CHIANGRAIfor an overnight stop that includes
dinner and a transfer out to the airport on the following
day.
