An Outdoor Adventure Club in Northern Thailand

THE LOCATION

The Bamboo Man Adventure Club located in Ban Thaton, Chiang Mai, Thailand. It forms a component part of the Maekok River Village Resort – an adventure tour base designed with families in mind. The other related components are:
  • The Maekok River Village Resort property itself - set on the banks of the Kok River at the northern end of the Fang valley, providing a refuge from city life.

  • The Student Field Studies Centre – Providing a wide range of field studies and outward bound style activities to the international market.

  • A Corporate Development Facility – Providing facilities and supervision of team building and leadership training programmes.

  • Track of the Tiger Tours – Specialists in soft adventure tours for the family market since 1986.

  • The Maekok River Village Resort Organic Farm – A facility designed to reintroduce organic farming methods to the north of Thailand.

  • The Krua Maekok Cooking School – A Thai cooking school of excellent repute.

    THE CLUB'S OBJECTIVES

  • To introduce both Thais and foreigners, young and old alike, to the beauty of the remote areas of the north, and the benefits of time spent actively involved in adventure pursuits.

  • To train members in a variety of outdoor skills, sports and activities, from beginner to advanced levels, so that they may enhance their enjoyment of the outdoors in a healthy responsible and safe manner.

  • To introduce people to the sport of 'Adventure Racing' by running a regular programme of Adventure Skills Training Weekends, and by holding several multi-level (basic, intermediate and advanced) Bamboo Man Challenges each year, to raise funds for charity.
  • To provide, through our CHUAY DUAY programme, the opportunity for 'hands on' involvement in our various Community Development Projects.

ACHIEVING OUR OBJECTIVES

To best achieve the objectives, we have established 5 'specific interest areas' within the club:

1. Adventure Outings.
2. Adventure Skills and Special Interest Courses.
3. Pre Bamboo Man Challenge Training Weekends.
4. Bamboo Man Challenges - Action Adventure Decathalons for charity.
5. Chuay Duay – Community Development Projects.
