BAMBOO MAN TRAINING WEEKENDS & CHALLENGES

SCHEDULE 2001

THE BAMBOO MAN CHALLENGE - DRY RUN - SEPTEMBER 2001

We will be putting on a 'dry run' of the intermediate and advanced category
Bamboo Man Challenges over the weekend of September 8th & 9th, 2001

The event is open to teams only and limited to a maximum of 12 teams.

Note: Individuals may contact us if they wish to locate others to form a team.

Cash & teambuilding event prizes will not be awarded but all participants
shall receive a 40cm-high hand-made Bamboo Man Trophy,
and the end-of-challenge 'BBQ & Bar' will be covered
by the entry fee of Baht 5'000 per person.

Teams competing in the 'dry run' will be offered 'free entry'
to either of the two Bamboo Man Challenges scheduled for 2002

Donations to charity are not expected and we shall not be
seeking sponsorship by banner advertising for the event.

The photography from the event, and participants comments on it,
will be used for the promotion of the Bamboo man Events in 2002

CHALLENGE 3

THE 3-DAY INTERNATIONAL BAMBOO MAN CHALLENGE - 2003

The 3-Day Bamboo Man Challenge is an action adventure decathlon event, (combined basic, intermediaste and advanced categories) to be run during the 'Songkraan' (water festival hoilday April 13th, 14th & 15th).

The 10 disciplines of the challenge are spread over 'the old trade route' a route that runs between the two major cities of northern Thailand, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.

Competition entry cost

For purposes of the Bamboo Man Challenge entry fee costs, team members are counted as individual contestants.

The entry fee covers:

Transport to & from start and finish points where required, drinking water and fresh fruit at several check points en route, use of equipment (canoes, climbing & abseil ropes) on site emergency medical treatment by our own paramedic teams, contestant's vest with your allocated number.

Note* Mountain bikes are not included but are available for hire (see mountain bike hire).

Student/Teacher Discounts

A 50% discount on entry fees is available to teams from Thai universities or colleges.

Mountain bike hire – for use in the challenge

Good quality mountain bikes are available for hire at Baht 500.- per day.

Compulsory charity donation

The entry fee must be accompanied by a donation to any registered charity listed on our directory of charities operating in the kingdom, proposed by club members and approved by the management of the Bamboo Man Adventure Club.


The donation may be for any amount, and presented by cheque in the name of the recipient charity.

You may of course wish to spread your donation over several charities or worthy causes.

All donors names, along with the amount donated and details of, or a link to the sponsoring company's web site will be uploaded to the Sponsors' Page of the Bamboo Man Challenge web site.

Sponsors will be requested to provide a large patch, with their company name and logo theron, to be worn on the back of their sponsored runners' T-shirts.
