TYPICAL
7 DAY ADVENTURE PURSUITS /
SURVIVAL / TEAM LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME
Day 1. Sunday
Meal Code: (D)
Arrive at the airport
(Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai) or the railway station in Chiang Mai,
and transfer to the Maekok River Village Resort Student Field
Studies Centre in Ban Thaton.
Check into the accommodation
of your choice.
Take a Thai / Western
buffet dinner in the 'Spice Garden' restaurant overlooking the river.
Relax around the campfire,
and enjoy the facilities of 'Bamboo Man Adventure Club'.
Retire to bed.
Day 2. Monday
Meal Code: (B, L,
D)
Breakfast.
Lecture followed by practical
instruction on:
'Jungle Survival &
Food Craft'.
Take a short break then
attend a lecture followed by practical instruction on:
'Fire raft & Cooking'.
Thai / Western buffet
lunch.
Take part in a 'Bamboo
Workshop': Making plates, drinking vessels, chopsticks, spoons.
(Optional* Plucking &
preparing the chickens for the BBQ).
BBQ dinner (includes
numerous wild vegetables/edible roots).
Relax around the campfire,
and enjoy the facilities of 'Bamboo Man Adventure Club'.
Retire to bed.
Day 3. Tuesday
Meal Code: (B, L,
D)
Breakfast
Lecture followed by practical
instruction on:
'Map reading & Orienteering'.
'Magnetic compass &
GPS use'.
Thai / Western buffet
lunch.
Depart for the start
point of our basic 'Orienteering Competition' (app. 10kms
ends at the resort)
Enjoy an early Thai /
Western buffet dinner.
After dinner, take a
1hour break before commencing our 'Student Eco-Challenge' a team
event:
There are 4 phases, over
2 days:
High & Low ropes/beams
course.
Mountain bike circuit/rock
climbing wall/cargo net descent.
After the competition,
late snacks and hot drinks are served around the campfire before
you retire to bed.
Note* Full details
of the competition are provided to all school groups prior to their
arrival to facilitate the balanced selection of teams.
Day 4. Wednesday
Meal Code: (B, L,
D)
Breakfast.
Continue with the Student
Eco-Challenge.
Board transport and set
off for the start point of the next stage:
'Look and Learn' trek
to the hot springs via a cave, a waterfall and a Red Lahu hill tribe
village. Lunch is a picnic box en route. There are 20 'question
points' along the route and at each you will be asked a question,
or given a task to complete. These are related to what you have
learned over the previous 4 days of the programme.
Return to the resort
for a set Western style dinner.
Take a 1hour break before
commencing the last phase of the Students Eco-Challenge.
Team building exercises,
& mental challenges.
After the competition,
late snacks and hot drinks are served around the campfire before
you retire to bed.
Day 5. Thursday
Meal Code: (B, L,
D)
Breakfast.
Morning at leisure (relax
around the resort or go shopping in the nearby town of Fang).
Return for a buffet lunch.
Lecture followed by practical
instruction on:
'CPR, Lifesaving, Basic
Canoeing'.
Set Thai style dinner.
'Jungle Disco' in the
'Bamboo Man Adventure Club' to celebrate the completion of the Student
Eco-Challenge.
Retire to bed.
Day 6. Friday
Meal Code: (B, L,
D)
Breakfast.
10:00hrs, check out of
the resort and travel by vehicle to the Black Lahu village of Ban
Pha Tai.
Commence a 'Canoeing*
& River Barge Programme' to our river base camp some 30 km down
river (* 4 seater Canadian Indian Trading Canoes).
Arrive and check into
our barrack room style accommodation at the river side camp located
on the banks of the river, in a small gorge.
Take a hot shower, followed
by a BBQ dinner.
Relax around the campfire
before retiring to bed.
Day 7. Saturday
Meal Code: (B, L)
Breakfast.
Board the river barges
for the trip down river to the Elephant Camp at Ban Ruam Mit for
a 1.5 hour Elephant Safari.
Take lunch in a local
restaurant.
Reboard the barges for
the final leg of the journey down river to Chiang Rai.
Transfer by vehicle to
the airport for your flight out.
