Shane K Beary

The Managing Director of the Maekok River Village Resort project and Track of the Tiger Tours. He also oversees the outdoor activities of the student centre and the corporate development facility.

He is an Irish national who grew up in southern Africa. He served in the then Rhodesia Army for 7 years, first as a combat tracker for the RLI, then as a 'C' Squadron SAS, and later as a clandestine operative. He is also and was one of the founding members of the Selous Scouts Regiment.

Leaving the military he spent some 8 years a deep saturation oil field diver in the north sea before moving to Asia where he supervised oilfield diving contracts on and offshore for several companies.

He established Track of the Tiger Tours in 1986, built Maekok River Lodge in 1990, and more recently designed and built the Maekok River Village Resort. He lives on site at the resort with his wife Sripun and their two boys Seamus Padraig & Conor Eugene.

His secondary role is that of liason between the government, the village headmen and ourselves on community development related projects.

The Management is ably supported by the Heads of Department and 50 staff of the Maekok River Village Resort.

Further support comes from the full resources of Track of the Tiger Tours and a very experienced compliment of registered tour guides, all of whom have been with the company for 10 years or more.
