CHALLENGE
2b Introduction. Introduction: The challenge entails breaking the participants into teams (optimum size 10 people). The teams are provided with a challenge instruction sheet that includes a map, a list of tasks, and a budget for transport and entry fees where needed. When given the command to start, the teams set of using the songtaew transport provided, to accomplish 6 to 8 tasks from the list of 18 provided, all of which are undertaken in the city area. All required locations, as well as major landmarks are depicted on the challenge map, and a budget (for entry fees where needed) is provided with the task list. The challenge runs for 3 to 4 hours - depending on the overall programme. The winning team is decided according to a simple formula that takes into account the team's position in getting home (1st , 2nd, 3rd, etc.), and the number of correct answers it submits. Typical Chiang Mai challenge tasks. 1. Buy an orange from a particular vendor (Mrs. ..) in the Warorot fruit market, and have her sign the orange. (location schematic provided) 2. In Chiang Mai cultural museum there is a presentation on the different ethnic minority hill tribe groups. List their names and the main occupation of each. 3. At the famous forest temple
of Wat Umong, you will find numerous short messages of wisdom written
on plaques, and mounted on trees in the temple grounds. Record 3 of them.
