Itinerary:

Day One.

Meal Code: (At guest expense)

Depart Chiang Mai by vehicle at 0700hrs and travel via the Samoeng Loop road to a remote elephant camp in the mountains outside Chiang Mai and commence an elephant safari through the surrounding jungle that includes visits to one or two waterfalls. Visit the Queen Sirikit Botanical gardens to explore the wide range of flora that represents much of that indigenous to Thasiland. Take lunch in a local roadside restaurant in the village of Chiang Dao. Continue north along rural back roads to visit a rare Paulong hill tribe village, and one of the few accessible Lahu Shaleh hill tribe villages in the north. Overnight at Maekok River Village Resort, an adventure tour base on the banks of the Kok river on the outskirts of the Thai -Burma border village of Ban Thaton.

 

Day Two.

This morning the option is yours, a morning at leisure at the resort or a 4 hour walk through the hills surrounding the river valley. Visit several hill tribe villages and enjoy spectacular views of the valley below. ( above average level of fitness is required). Or, take a less strenuous walk through our organic farm to the hill top temple of Wat Thaton with it’s 3 giant Buddha images, returning to the village of Ban Thaton. (medium level of fitness required). Next enjoy a 4 hour bamboo raft trip from a boarding point near Ban Thaton travelling down the Kok river to Ban Pha Tai, a Black Lahu hill tribe village. A picnic lunch is served onboard.

Canoes are carried for those who wish to use them and stops are made at the Shan village of Ban MaiMokcham and the old tea loading station of Ban Mae Saluk. Return to the resort by vehicle.

Day Three.

Day at leisure. Enjoy free use of a mountain bike for 4 hours, morning or afternoon. Local area maps marked with ‘day walk’ and ‘mountain bike’ trails will be provided. Or, alternatively, buy one of the numerous soft adventure excursion adventure tour options available from the resort. ( see excursion adventure tours from Maekok River Village Resort).

Day Four.

This morning you may opt to just laze by the pool, explore the nearby village, or choose from the following activities;

Option 1. (MRVR000) Using our own ‘area map’ take a mountain bike ride through the rich agricultural farmlands of the Fang valley. Click here for prices .- per person at guest expense.

Option 2. (MRVR019)Take a morning course at the resort’s Krua Maekok Thai Cooking School during which would learn to cook 3 Thai food dishes. Click here for prices .- per person at guest expense.

Option 3.(MRVR025) Take a relaxing 2 hour traditional massage at the resort’s Nuat Phaen Boran school of massage, followed by a herbal steam bath that is located on the resort.Click here for prices - per person at guest expense.
