After an hour the canoes are secured alongside the barge and you travel under power down to the head of the Nam Ten (light) rapids where another one hour canoeing phase is started. Those not canoeing relax onboard for a ‘rafting phase’ whilst they are poled down river at a leisurely pace. A third canoeing phase is commenced at the head of the Pha Kwang rapids, and canoeists continue down to the Track of the Tiger River base camp, followed by the barge in rafting mode.

After a picnic lunch at the camp you reboard the barge and motor down river through stunning scenery of bamboo clad banks to one of two elephant riding camps to begin a 1.5hr elephant safari in a loop through the surrounding jungle.
