LIST OF CHARITIES AND WORTHY CAUSES

Introduction.

Prior to making out a cheque for a donation to any of the listed causes, we suggest you get in touch with the named contact person to ensure that your cheque is made out in the right name.

When emailing or faxing us to submit you entry to the competition, you must pledge the amount to be donated, and the name of the charity or cause to whom you are making the donation.

The actual cheque must then be handed in to the Maekok River Village Resort office when you arrive for the competition so that the donations may be reconciled with the amounts pledged.

In addition you must provide details of exactly who is making the donation. In the case of an individual or individuals, just a name is fine. In the case of a company, the name, a brief description of the company’s business, a scanned logo, and links to the company web site (if they have one).

Note* If the company donating funds does not have a web site, www.Thailand-YellowPages.com will provide one free of charge. Contact us for further details.

  15. The Khru Thim Bun-ing Foundation supports the education of Isan children and lends money to poor people to establish farms rather than migrate to Bangkok for work.

  16. Klong Toey Slum Children need support to continue their education.

  17. Northern Network for Rural Development (NorthNet), an NGO which works in a variety of areas, including forestry, rural development, and organic farming.

  18. The Health Project for Tribal People,an indigenous tribal NGO, which develops culturally and linguistically appropriate media for teaching tribal people about HIV/Aids.They also run an Aids hospice for women and children with no family.

  21. Foundation for Education and Development of Rural Areas (FEDRA), a Thai NGO promoting integrated farming and rural development in the Mae Tang/Mae Rim area of Chiang Mai.

  22. McKean Rehabilitation Centre, formerly a lepers’colony. The centre’s activities now focus on community-based care for the disabled, including training in organic and integrated farming methods.

  23. The Duang Prateep Foundation, an NGO working in the Klong Toey slums in Bangkok on issues such as children’s education, slum dwellers’ rights and HIV/Aids.

  40. The Khon Dee Sri Sangkhom Award honours rural community leaders for their initiatives.
