SEA
CAVE CANOE
Introduction Again, whilst there are several operators conducting sea canoe programs, Track of the Tiger has selected SEA CAVE CANOE as its operator of choice. This is based on feedback from our own customers who report that the company is a little better than its competition in the areas of service standard, customer relations and programme flexibility.
SEA CAVE CANOE is an Eco-tourism-orientated company specializing in sea cave and island explorations using ‘tour guide-paddled sea canoes’ as the ‘on-site’ mode of transport. (you need not therefore be an experienced canoeist to enjoy their programmes).
Environmental Awareness It is of the utmost importance that the delicate & pristine environment you will observe and spend time paddling through remains as little disturbed as possible and uncontaminated by your passing.
The sheltered waters of the mangrove swamps provide nursery for numerous species of marine life and supporting sensitive ecosystems.
In the ‘hongs’ (Thai for rooms); we do not allow our clients to talk, touch the walls, take souvenirs, smoke or make any noise. Numbers visiting the ‘hongs’ in one group are kept to a minimum.
Caves & Hongs Phang Na Bay National Park, set in the Andaman Sea, northeast of Phuket, embodies some of the worlds most fascinating scenic wonders.
It is renowned for its amazing limestone “sea mountains” that rise from the ocean as vertical rock walls, some peaks reaching 300m.
Few islands are inhabited and the bay is largely untouched by the human hand.
Here we find the famous James Bond Island (from the film “The Man With The Golden Gun”) amongst scores of other fascinatingly and yet naturally, sculpted islands.
Hidden in these islands are numerous caves, tunnels and lagoons, better known as “hongs” (Thai for rooms); collapsed caverns eroded by natural forces over millions of years, that can only be entered via the tunnels when the tide is just right.
Canoes
Sea Cave Canoe uses AIRE™ Sea Tiger I high performance touring canoes. A double-layer construction provides obvious strength advantage; an innertube of airtight urethane covered with almost bulletproof PVC coated polyester material results in a very durable boat. The flat-bottom design is ideal for stability and with a length of almost 17 feet you can really relax and take in the scenery as our trained guides paddle you into paradise!!
