The Padaung Karen of Mae Hong Sorn
Introduction
During 1997, Track of the Tiger included (optional) visits to the Padaung Karen (the so-called “Long-neck”) people - then living in Ban Sun Ton Doo - on all programmes that passed along that route.
For those who wish to see these people, we offer the following excursion out of Chiang Mai, conducted by our Mae Hong Sorn agent.

Programme Itinerary
- Take the hotel courtesy transfer to Chiang Mai international airport for the 20 minute flight to Mae Hong Sorn
- Arrive in Mae Hong Sorn on TG 190, and transfer to the boat landing stage.
- Board a long tail boat for a trip up the Pai river.
- Visit the Padaung Karen hilltribe village
- Take a 1 hour elephant ride through scenic jungle.
- Visit Wat Doi Kong Mu.
- Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant
- Transfer back to the airport for the 20 minute return flight to Chiang Mai on TG 197.
