WILD
RIVERS..... a bit of background
The 3
key components in any adventure operation are safety, safety and
safety. As a tour operator in business with a perfect safety record
going back 16 years, the first thing we look at when selecting a
service provider for something like white water rafting is experience
and track record.
Ketut
Suasana - who runs 'wild rivers' and leads the rafting trips, had
over 14 years experience in managing the largest whitewater rafting
operation in Asia before starting his own business.
He was
the Indonesian team leader for the World Whitewater Rafting Championships
in 1993, head judge for the Indonesian Whitewater Rafting Championships
in 1994, and selected for the Malrlboro Team Expedition in 1995
- Utah, USA.
He has
guided on the following rivers: (Note*- the number denotes the river
class on a scale of 1 to 5):
Colorado (5) America.
Tali (4), Nimboida (3) Australia.
Coruh (5) Turkey. Ayung (3), Telagawaja (3), Balian (4), Bali Indonesia.
Sadan (5), Maulu (3), Rongkong (5), Sulawesi Indonesia.
Sitarik (4), Cimandiri (4), Cikandang (4), West Java Indonesia.
Nam Wa (3), Mae Taeng (4), Thailand.
Trisuli (5), Nepal.
Ganges (4) India.
In terms
of equipment, only high floatation life jackets, top of the range
safety helmets, and the best quality imported rubber rafts are used.
The river
guides are fully trained in whitewater rafting guide skills, swift
water rescue techniques (level 3), First Aid and CPR, and teamwork
and leadership skills. They also have good CRM skills.
Programme
Outline
"An
exhilarating trip down what must be the best stretch of the beautiful
Mae Taeng river. Your heart races as you tackle a series of 20 class
3 and 4 rapids as you rush along the river with barely any time
to take in the high mountains and verdant green jungle on either
side of you. The 2 hour experience takes you from sop Kai to Muang
Kod village".
