4WD programmes

Although Chiang Mai has developed from a delightful old fortified city surrounded by a moat, to what might best be described as a ‘contemporary Thai city’, the pace of life, and level of development in the rural mountainous areas surrounding the city on all sides, has remained much the same as it was 60-80 years ago.

The narrow dirt roads that allow access to the many ‘hidden cultural and scenic jewels’ out in the mountains can be seen only by those traveling on foot, off road motorcycle, or 4WD vehicle.

There really is a new and unique experience to be found around every corner…

Northern Thailand is home to some of the most stunning 4WD routes in the region. Track of the Tiger can create a customised route for clients that can run from one day up to several weeks, with stops at towns and areas such as Pai, Mae Hong Song, Doi Ankharn, Ban Thaton, Mae Salong, Chiang Rai, Mae Sai, the Golden Triangle and more.

Routes can very in difficulty from easy to exceptionally difficult and can include stops at any number of attractions or features along the way, including waterfalls, villages, farms, forests, mountains, rivers, caves and more. Our contacts throughout the region keep us informed of the status of routes to ensure we provide the best possible options to guests.

Track of the Tiger also provides 4WD rental options, and clients are accompanied by medical staff, mechanics and a back-up driver to ensure a smooth and safe operation at all times.

Prices vary depending on routes selected.
