Day One

Departing Chiang Mai by vehicle, you travel north to the Mae Tamman valley for an oxcart ride, followed by an elephant safari, and then a short bamboo raft trip. Visit Chiang Dao caves, take lunch in a local restaurant then a drive along rural back roads to a forest temple and on to a rare Paulong hill tribe village. Continue to Ban Thaton and check into the Maekok River Village Resort. Take dinner and then relax around the campfire (lit nightly if the weather is cool enough).
Day Two

Depart the Maekok River Village Resort for a visit to several ethnic minority villages (Shan, Akha, Jin Haw). Explore the exotic market of Ban Mae Salong. Take lunch in a local restaurant then drive across mountain roads over Doi Toong & Doi Pa Mi that afford stunning views of the valley below. Stop at the Thai-Burma border town of Mae Sai, then visit the Golden Triangle, take afternoon tea overlooking the infamous Maekong river, then drive back to Chiang Rai.
