Half Day Team Building Challenges

Half day programmes provide a flexible option that can be held in the morning or afternoon, and therefore worked around any conference-based sessions.

All challenges are unique and will test the mental and physical strengths of the participants, as well as encourage the development of those all important team-skills: communication, planning, problem solving, leadership and team cohesion. Above all, they are fun, exciting ways to bring your team together, regardless of background, seniority, nationality, familiarity or religious conviction. All programmes are directed by a foreign-national manager and teams are supervised by English-speaking Facilitators.

Whilst most of the events below are specifically designed for Chiang Mai, many can be operated in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket or any other location in S.E. Asia.

The Chiang Mai City Challenge (half day)
This “Amazing-Race” styled challenge represents a fantastic opportunity for participants to experience Chiang Mai in a short amount of time, and is ideal for groups who have been spending most of their time in conference. Teams travel all over Chiang Mai in a Song Thao (traditional Thai public transport), undertaking fun and informative challenges designed to provide the best experience of Chiang Mai, as well as to encourage planning and team member involvement. Activity locations include markets, temples, museums, the river, restaurants, shopping centres and involve a range of ‘hands-on’ challenges such as cooking, bargaining, photography, eating, exploring and more.

The ‘City Challenge’ programme is also available in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket etc.

The Baht Builder Challenge (half day)
Taking place in a large outdoor park or botanical garden, the Baht Builder Challenge will test communication, planning, problem solving and leadership skills. Teams begin with a purse of THB 1,500 and are tasked to earn as much money as possible in the time provided. Money is earned by completing challenges, selected from the Challenge Board. All challenges cost a different amount to attempt, and all provide different bonuses for successful completion.

The ‘City Challenge’ programme can be adapted to suit most city locations.

This is our most popular challenge and includes activities such as the infamous Leaky Pipe, Ravine Cross, Electric Fence and more than 30 other proven team building activities. The Baht Builder is popular as it allows the group to stay together in the same location, resulting in some serious, but fun, competition!

The Botanical Garden Cycling Challenge (half day)
This challenge is held in a stunning botanical garden or park within 15 minutes of Chiang Mai City. Teams are provided with bikes and are tasked to travel around the gardens, visiting the various features, solving riddles and completing physical activities. Activities include locating items in a confusing hedge-maze, building a raft from bamboo to paddle out on the lake and rescue the stranded maiden, visiting the Lanna-museum and model village to obtain historical information and other Track of the Tiger team building activities, some of which are taken from the Baht Builder (above). Great fun and lots of exercise!

Indoor Team Building Challenge (half day)
Developed for clients who are either limited in terms of time or budget, the Indoor Team Building Challenge involves small teams completing a variety of fun activities indoors (hotel ballroom or similar). Activities may include creative writing/performance, general knowledge, mini-construction projects, spatial awareness games and more. Prior to this, a series of ice breakers will be enjoyed, designed to loosen up the group and create the right atmosphere.

Elephant Trek and Bamboo Rafting Challenge (long half day)
This challenge provides an ideal way to incorporate a must-do activity in Chiang Mai (riding an elephant) with a rewarding team building experience. Teams first travel to an Elephant Camp 45 minutes from Chiang Mai, completing riddles and solving problems provided while on route. Upon arrival, participants will enjoy a 1 hour elephant safari through villages, rivers, jungle and more, leading them to their bamboo raft building station. Each team is provided materials and tasked to construct a safe raft and paddle 30 minutes downstream to their destination, where they will undertake additional team building challenges before they are deemed complete. Points are awarded for all activities undertaken.

Samoeng Road Challenge (half day)
This Amazing Race styled challenge will have the teams following a map of the famous Samoeng Road, 30 minutes North of Chiang Mai. Teams will need to undertake hands-on challenges at the Tiger Kingdom (including a special experience with a baby tiger), an orchid farm, an art gallery, a local temple, the busy local market, an Elephant Camp and even a Beatles-themed restaurant!. Teams will interact with local people, and experience a wide variety of Thailand attractions in a short period of time.

The River Trace (long half day)
Located at our own Pang Soong Lodge less than 1 hour from Chiang Mai City, teams are tasked to follow a real jungle river upstream through natural forests, bridges, waterfalls and other exciting features. Working together, teams must successfully complete adventure-based challenges, ropes courses and waterfall abseiling to progress to the end. Team cohesiveness is improved as team members provide each other with genuine support and encouragement. This is a physical challenge that requires moderate coordination and fitness.

Jungle Survival Challenge (half day to full day)
Teams undertake genuine jungle survival challenges created by ex-military personnel; a physical but rewarding team building activity that will ensure teams work together and learn new skills. The scenario is set as follows: “teams have survived a remote airplane crash and no help is on the way. They must find water, source food, build and maintain a fire, utilise available materials, build a durable shelter and formulate a plan for survival – above all, morale must be kept high!” Creative challenges are provided to keep the teams on their toes and to maximise positive experiences from the event.

This challenge can be held in the mountains,
on a beach/island or almost any other natural, outdoor location.

Lanna Cultural Challenge (half day to full day)
The Lanna Cultural Challenge is a challenge that requires minimal physical activity and is focused more on providing a Northern Thai “experience”. Flexible in nature, groups will travel to a lovely garden environment and may enjoy activities at a series of cultural stations where they will learn Thai dance, pottery, umbrella painting, elephant safari, fruit carving, cooking, making saa paper by hand and more, normally followed by a brief Thai massage – ideal for groups wanting a relaxed and enjoyable experience that is less intense in nature.
