Track of the Tiger T.R.D has ownership in two Outdoor Education Centres:

1. The Pang Soong Lodge & Field Centre, is located just 50 kms (45 minutes) outside of Chiang Mai city, at 1000 m.a.s.l. in pristine evergreen forest that separates the Chiang Mai and Lampang valleys.

Programme design and operation is shared by the staff of Maekok River Village Resort & Track of the Tiger T.R.D.

Only in its second year of operation the centre caters to those groups that have perhaps less than 6 or 7 days to spare, and wish to combine their environmental related educational and community service projects with some tours, soft adventure, sightseeing and shopping opportunities in and around Chiang Mai city itself.

The Pang Soong Lodge & Field Centre also provides educational programmes and scientific study opportunities for the international and domestic university market, and for special interest groups.

Additionally, it provides outdoor educational programmes for the Thai schools market.

The first Environmental English Camp, held at the Pang Soong Lodge in February 2008, was sponsored by the British Council Thailand and we are actively seeking sponsors for additional camps throughout 2008 for Thai students residing in Chiang Mai. The focus of these programmes is to promote positive attitudes towards the environment and to enhance their use of the English language.

Summer Camps for students of all nationalities will also be launched in 2009 aimed at enhancing the English language skills and developing then awareness of the environment for both Thai and international students.

A wide range of community service (social development and environmental protection related) are provided to our clients through the programmes of Track of the Tiger’s non profit programme the VWB or Voluntourists Without Borders Initiative.

2. The Maekok River Village Resort & Outdoor Education Centre, Ban Thaton, Mae Ai district, located 3hrs or 175kms north of Chiang Mai on the banks of the Kok river and with access to the Fang valley and the mountains that surround it.

The centre caters mainly to top level international schools attending 6-7 day multi-activity programmes with a strong educational and community service orientated focus. Clients are currently drawn from 45 international Schools from Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, the USA and more.

Headed by a team of every experienced foreign teachers supported by university interns, the well established centre is in its 9th year of operation and handles some 15000 students per year.

The new project, a stunning 4 star property, still in Ban Thaon and on the river, that separates the student centre from the resort property is now complete and will open for business in October 2009.
