Sanpatong Tourist Route Challenge (Read more/less.)

Brief Description: Travel4Good has established an excellent tourist as an excursion from Chiang Mai, out and around the Sanpatong area, and back to the city. The route incorporates over 50 products and services (accommodation, restaurants, activities, attractions, festivals, workshops and courses) along a general route, most are unique and rewarding tourism experiences in themselves, and many of them provide excellent opportunities for creative team building challenges.

Each team is allocated its own English speaking facilitator to monitor safety, tabulate points and advise on customs, culture and protocol. They have their own designated driver and transport with water and ice box. They have a manual that covers:

  • The rules and objectives of each challenge.
  • The points available.
  • The time limitations.
  • The points bonus for early completion.
  • A challenge location map.
  • Emergency response procedures with contact numbers.

Teams plan which challenges they wish to undertake, and in what order, based on their assessment of the group's skills and interests (as outlined in the introduction.) To spread the groups out, the first challenge for each group is assigned by the challenge control - and indicated in the manual.  When ready to set off, their appointed team facilitator logs them out of Challenge control, and directs them to board their designated transport (minibus) and set off to their designated first challenge. Whilst en route, they must start to choose and plan their next preferred challenge using the selection criteria explained in the introduction.

In discussion their facilitator, they take a lunch break between challenges, a Thai food buffet set up at the Sanpatong Farm Stay & Activity Centre (extended opening 1200-1400hrs.) They then continue their challenge programme.

They complete as many challenges as they can, accruing as many points as possible, during the time available, returning to the hotel/resort by the appointed time.

The Sanpatong Tourist Route Challenge

They must get back to the control centre at their hotel/resort before the allocated challenge time expires. Once there, and whilst scores are tabulated, they undertake a series of 'warm down' group exercises, and take group photographs. Prizes or awards if required may be given now or later.

Teams board their transport for the trip back to their hotel/resort.

The Sanpatong Farm Challenge & CSR Project (Read more/less.)

Brief Description: The Traditional Thai Agriculture model is built around the individual and extended family practicing integrated rotational farming (rice, vegetables, fruit, fish, frogs, herbs, farm animals etc.), on a fairly small plot of land. His majesty Khun Bhumipol of Thailand, was very active in promoting the 'sufficiency economy' - growing enough to feed the family, and then selling/bartering the surplus, to cover the cost of your other needs. He advocated this approached for Thai farmers, over the chemical based mono-crop, chemical grown, export market driven alternative.

Prior to departing the city for the Sanpatong Farm Stay & Activity Centre (45-60 minutes from the city), we will perform the normal warm up exercises, be split into teams of 10-12 participants, be allocated a team facilitator, and have drinking water and sun hats, sunscreen etc.

On arrival at the site, teams will change into 'local farmer attire' which is more suitable than western clothing for the tasks at hand. Designated their first challenge, teams will then set about undertaking a rotation of farming and local lifestyle tasks, into which we have incorporated a team building challenge.

The Sanpatong Farm Challenge

Teams break for a buffet lunch at the Farm Stay, and then board their vehicles to head off to their CSR Project location. (Chosen from the CS & CSR Programme Menu.)

CSR Project Examples

On completion of their CSR project, they undertake a series of 'warm down' group exercises, and take group photographs. VWB Certificates are awarded, Team Building scores are given, Prizes or awards if required may be given now or later.
